DynaSys InternationalThe Road Warrior Page
This page is dedicated to all the road warriors out there who make a living traveling to the places most people won't go. These are their stories. If you have an interesting story or information about a place that you would like to share, e-mail it to us. If we find it interesting, we will post it on this page for all of the road warriors to share. 1. Ray's encounter with the credit card lady.I was in Hong Kong at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile sitting at the bar, having a beer. A beautiful blond with the biggest blue eyes walked into the room and sat two seats from me. She then slid over to occupy the seat next to me. I said to myself, I know what happens next! She began to talk about things and told me she was half Italian and half Swedish. In the low cut black dress she was wearing it was easy to tell which half was which. Sure enough, she finally got to the point which was, " let's go up to your room for a nice Swedish massage". I said, "no, I don't do that, and besides you're big money". She replied that it was no problem, she took credit cards! I again refused, but I bought her a glass of wine and we talked for a while about how she goes around the world, going around the world. When she got up to leave, she showed me her business card and asked if I knew how to work a pager. When I said yes, she said, "great, next time you're in Hong Kong, here's my number. Beep me"! I looked at the card. The name of her company was Fun Trading Company and she was, of course, Vice President!
2. Jeff Asks for a LightI was working in a wire factory in Thailand installing a control system for a US company. The control system cabinet was in a particularly dark corner of the factory, so I asked the technician that was assigned to me if he could find a light to brighten up the cabinet. After several minutes of pantomiming my request, he gestured his understanding of the problem and went on his way to find a light. After an hour and a half of working in the dark, I resigned myself to the fact that this is the way it's going to be, when the technician suddenly reappeared. He handed me a candle and a pack of matches. I guess something was lost in the translation!
3. Bad Translations Plague the Taiwan Motor Scooter IndustryThese are sayings written on the backs of motor scooters in Taiwan by their manufacturers. Sanyang SP Dio - The Best Sensation I wonder, couldn't these huge multinational corporations either write in Chinese or hire a native English speaking person to translate? Also, what could Honda's New Concepts By My Own actually mean and how does this fit in with their Human Fitting Concept? Is this Fascinating to You. Does it give you the Best Sensation or just leave you With Fashionable Feeling?
